ABOUT

ABOUT

Growing up, I always loved the idea of creating my own business. I was constantly building things, taking on DIY projects, and finding ways to create with my hands. After college, I made the unexpected move from New York to a small town in Michigan, where I joined a pottery studio and discovered ceramics. The incredible potters I met there taught me so much about the craft, and pottery quickly became a meditative outlet. A year later, I moved to San Francisco, knowing I wanted to find a studio with a gas kiln. I’m drawn to gas firing for the chemistry that unfolds inside the kiln, where each piece responds differently to the reduction atmosphere, creating unique surfaces and rich, bold colors.

Five years later, Babu Ceramics has officially taken shape, marking the beginning of a new chapter in my practice. I’m excited to build my work with greater intention, drawing on the creativity and curiosity that have always inspired me. I never imagined using my own name for my brand, but Babu represents my South Indian heritage, which is deeply connected to the vibrancy and style that have always been a part of me.
